Stylist to the stars Brix Smith-Start has offered travellers some advice on how to reduce the weight of their luggage.
As most people flying through London Heathrow Airport will know, excess baggage charges can quickly turn a cheap flight into an expensive one.
Ms Smith-Start advised holidaymakers and business travellers to check the weather forecast before heading overseas in order to avoid taking unnecessary items.
"Shoes can really double and triple up. I found if you are going on a beach holiday, a pair of flip flops, a pair of plimsolls to walk round town and one pair of heels is pretty much all you need; they can pretty much go with everything," she commented.
In addition, Ms Smith-Start recommended that holidaymakers plan their outfits in advance.
A recent poll carried out by Thomson found that a quarter of people spend between two and three days packing their suitcases.
