Red’s True Barbecue
Some restaurants are all about the food, some the atmosphere, and others the decor. Red’s True Barbecue is the perfect combination of all three, meaning it had to take our number one spot. They have an extensive selection of mouth-watering barbecued
meats, but one of their most renowned offerings is the Donut Burger. With the complementary sweetness of two glazed donuts as the bun to two slow-cooked patties, topped with smoked bacon, onions and sauce this is one of the greatest gifts you can
give your taste buds.

Dip & Flip
Who doesn’t agree with their slogan ‘life tastes better with gravy’? The USP and crowning glory here is gravy being served alongside their burgers or having the entire thing dipped (or even soaked) before it’s served. You can replace
bacon with a layer of gravy-dipped roast beef or add white cabbage and dill pickle mayonnaise for a little acidity. The buns, despite all the gravy, hold up remarkably well thanks to their lower sugar content than standard brioche.

Honest Burger
It’s not only the burgers that gave Honest our bronze medal. That being said, they were some of the highest quality we’ve sampled. They use rare breed aged beef sourced from the award winning Ginger Pig Farm, which prides itself on animal
welfare and good husbandry. They were also helped to 3rd place by their rosemary salted fries. Resembling fry shop fries, they have just the right amount of salt and a healthy dose of rosemary. Simply Delicious! The decor is simplistic, the atmosphere
is relaxed and the staff are extremely friendly.

Burger Bear
Burger bear made it into our shortlist because of to two simple words: Bacon jam. However, despite the initial emphasis, bacon jam was not the only thing that made Burger bear worthy of fourth place. Out of all those on the shortlist, they offered by
far the juiciest of all the burgers. For the vegetarians out there, you haven’t been forgotten. The Koala bear burger offered an exotic twist on what could have been another boring bean burger; thanks to their exceptional salsa and punchy lime
yogurt.

Elliot’s café burger
Similar to the offerings of Honest burger, Elliot’s source their beef from the Ginger pig farm. The patty weighed in at 8oz and the toppings were equally impressive. Beer-soaked onions are piled alongside a heap of aged Comté cheese that’s
melted uniquely by placing a cloche over the burger during the cooking process. The final topping, in our opinion, is a stroke of culinary genius -‘dill pickle butter’. Comprising of pickle liquor, dill, butter and olive oil
it added a little extra acidity to make this burger something truly special.
