Let's be honest, a Sunday wouldn't be a Sunday without a good roast. To make sure your weekend is complete we have rounded up the best spots in London to grab a delicious gravy-soaked lunch just make sure you don't tell you mum; she might get jealous.

Bacchus Sundays

When Bacchus Pub and Kitchen was closed for property developments, team Bacchus decided to fight back and maintain their title of ‘the guardians of the Sunday roast’. The team reformed as a group of Sunday rebels taking over kitchens and dining rooms across London to serve their award winning roast dinners every Sunday. Bacchus serves all the classic components in a delicious way – quality meat, tasty roast potatoes, big Yorkshire puddings and rich gravy. Wash it down with a couple of Bloody Marys and you have yourself the perfect Sunday.

The Harwood Arms

Next up we have The Harwood Arms, the only Michelin starred pub in London and definitely not your average Gastro pub. With its relaxing setting and exceptionally high quality food and wine, this pub had to feature in our Top 5. Based in the back streets of Fulham this pub prides itself on sourcing the very best of seasonal British produce. We love this pub as it offers much more than the ‘normal’ roast, thanks to offerings such as beef rump with bone marrow and Yorkshire grouse. If the Harwood Arms sounds like the place for you make sure you book, as this place fills up quickly.

Smokehouse

Smokehouse Islington opened its doors in August 2013 to much critical acclaim. Despite winning numerous awards during the three years it has been open, their simple philosophy has remained the same - to offer the best and most original smoked and grilled food in London. The food on offer is of the highest quality, which is primarily due to the fact that the chefs at Smokehouse work collaboratively with the best farms in the UK and butcher all their meat on site. We love that they have taken the humble Sunday roast and given it a twist with pork rib eye served alongside pulled smoke pork shoulder.  Also, the beef dripping roast potatoes are delicious!

Blacklock

Next up is Blacklock, found in a basement in Soho; this restaurant has gone from strength to strength since opening in 2015. On a Sunday, they swap their famed chops in favor of more conventional roasting joints.  The smell that hits you as you walk in the door is simply delicious, created from the cooking process of hanging the meat joints over open coals. There are 3 meats to choose from: beef, pork and lamb – but only a fool would choose just one. For just £20 each you’ll get your hands on a meat feast of all three, giant Yorkshire puddings, perfectly crispy roast potatoes, and delicious veg.  Winner winner (not so) chicken dinner!

The Duke

And finally we have The Duke, Richmond’s only true Gastro pub, found just behind the high street and Richmond green – this place is perfect hideaway for walkers and shoppers alike. Arguably, The Duke offers some of the best grub in Richmond and their Sunday roast is certainly not to be missed. The best parts for us were the roast potatoes and the Yorkshire puddings (huge, fluffy and perfectly cooked) proving that important extras make all the difference.  Vegetarians do not fear - the nut roast at The Duke is equally as delicious as its meaty counterpart!
