Which train services can get you to Heathrow?

Two main train services can get you to Heathrow: the Heathrow Express and the Elizabeth Line. Both use the same track from London Paddington and stop at Heathrow Central and Terminal 5 station.

The Heathrow Express is the fastest option of the two, and runs direct from Paddington to Heathrow with a journey time of just 15 minutes. Elizabeth Line services, on the other hand, take around 27 minutes to do the same journey, with a number of stops in between.

Heathrow Central station

Heathrow Central is served by both the Heathrow Express and Elizabeth Line. The Heathrow Express arrives at Heathrow Central in just 15 minutes from Paddington.

Terminals 2 and 3 are both short walks away from Heathrow Central via the inter-terminal walkway. You can also take a free Elizabeth Line train from Heathrow Central to Terminal 4.

When you arrive at Heathrow Central, you’ll enjoy step-free access from the Heathrow Express. There are both lifts and escalators, as well as direct pedestrian walkway links to Terminals 2 and 3. There are also ticket machines and ticket offices if you need to buy a ticket when travelling from the airport into London.

Heathrow Terminal 5 station

Terminal 5 station is six minutes from Heathrow Central on the Heathrow Express.

Both the Heathrow Express and Elizabeth Line stop at Terminal 5 station. It’s located on the ground floor of the terminal and provides direct access to Terminal 5 departures and arrivals. You’ll find electronic ticket machines and ticket offices at the station if you need to buy a ticket or purchase an Oyster card when you arrive at Heathrow. You can also tap in and out with your contactless payment card.
