Borough Market: The Historic Foodie Paradise

Nestled on the south bank of the River Thames, Borough Market is the cream of the crop when it comes to London’s food markets. The covered market has been providing locals and visitors with scrumptious treats for almost 1,000 years, becoming one of the city’s most important marketplaces from the early 19th century onwards

Today, it’s undoubtedly London’s most popular food market, with over 100 stalls scattered around its historic structure. They sell absolutely everything imaginable, from specialty deli items to tantalising international street food and even entire stalls selling sustainably sourced seafood. Prepare to be hit with all kinds of delicious scents as you wander around. Think cheese-stuffed toasties, decadent chocolate brownies and fragrant south east Asian curries.

Borough Market is the perfect place to stop off for lunch or visit in the early morning for an energy-boosting espresso from the excellent Monmouth Coffee. You’ll additionally find plenty of places to purchase foodie-related souvenirs, including stalls selling homemade kimchi, artisan nut butters and locally-made British condiments.

Depending on what you’re craving, you’ll find the market has been strategically laid out to suit your needs. Head to Three Crown Square to browse the fresh produce stalls. For more specialist items, Green Market is the place to be, while you’ll encounter all manner of street food options in the Borough Market Kitchen area.

Camden Market: A World of Street Food

Portobello Road Market: Antiques, Fashion & Food

A trip to picture-perfect Portobello Road Market is a quintessential London experience. This city market stretches out as far as the eye can see along Portobello Road. It sits within the world-famous Notting Hill neighbourhood, which you might just recognise as a filming location of the 1999 movie of the same name.

Step in Hugh Grant’s footsteps as you wander along this historical thoroughfare, feasting your eyes on plenty of independent shops and stalls. Portobello Road is the ideal place to people watch and browse for one-of-a-kind items.
