Exeter to London: Getting into the capital
The first stage of your journey is the train from Exeter to central London. You have a couple of options for train stations in Exeter. If you choose Exeter Central, there are direct trains into London Waterloo on South Western Railway with a journey time of around 3 hours 20 minutes.
Whereas, if you start your journey from Exeter St. David’s, you can take a direct train to London Paddington on Great Western Railway with a journey time of around 2 hours 10 minutes. If you’re travelling from Exeter Central and want to arrive into Paddington, you can change at Exeter St. David’s.

How to get from Waterloo to Paddington (if you need to)
If you take the GWR train into Paddington from Exeter St. David’s, you’ll be in the right place for the Heathrow Express. But if you arrive into London Waterloo, you’ll need to get across London to Paddington.
The quickest way to do so is to take the Bakerloo Line northbound for nine stops to Paddington – it should take around 14 minutes. Or you can take the Jubilee Line and change at Baker Street.

Find your seat and put your feet up on the Heathrow Express
Our Heathrow Express trains usually run from platform six or seven at Paddington station. If you arrive into Paddington on the GWR train from Exeter St. David’s, simply stroll from your train to the Heathrow Express platform.
If you take the tube from Waterloo, make your way up to the main station concourse and head through the ticket barriers with your Heathrow Express ticket in hand.
Remember to check the boards at the station in case we’re running from a different platform on the day.
