The Wimbledon to London Heathrow Airport route

It’s simple to travel from Wimbledon to Heathrow, with just two stages to your journey. The first is to go from Wimbledon to London Paddington. The second is to hop on the Heathrow Express at Paddington for the short 15-minute train journey to Heathrow.

How to get from Wimbledon to Paddington

The first step of your journey is to travel from Wimbledon to London Paddington, with the quickest and most convenient way being on the London Underground.

Wimbledon is on one of the branches of the District Line. At Wimbledon station, take the District Line northbound. You’ll need to make sure you’re on a train that terminates at Edgware Road, as this line runs direct to Paddington.

Paddington is 12 stops away, and your journey should take you around half an hour.

Buying Tube tickets to Paddington from Wimbledon

When it comes to paying to travel on the London Underground, you have a few different options. One is to tap in on the ticket barrier with your debit or credit card to pay contactless. You can also use an Oyster Card or buy a paper ticket at the station.

Where does the Heathrow Express run from at Paddington?

The Heathrow Express usually runs from platforms six and seven at London Paddington station.

If you arrive on the District Line from Wimbledon, hop off the Tube and make your way up to the main train station. Simply follow the signs when you get off your Tube train. Once in the main concourse of the train station, you’ll need to head through the ticket barriers with your Heathrow Express ticket in hand. Just remember to check the signs at the station to confirm the platform, as occasionally we run from different platforms.

We leave Paddington every 15 minutes, so you can quickly jump on a train to the airport.

The Heathrow Express is the quickest and easiest way to travel from Central London to Heathrow. Our trains leave London Paddington every 15 minutes and take just 15 minutes to arrive at the airport.

Arriving at Heathrow from Wimbledon

The Heathrow Express takes just 15 minutes to arrive at Heathrow, with the first stop Heathrow Central. Leave the train here if you’re flying from Terminals 2, 3 or 4. The next stop is just six minutes later, at Terminal 5 station – for all flights from Terminal 5.
