The Whitechapel to Heathrow route

It’s simple and quick to go from Whitechapel to Heathrow, with two stages to your journey. The first is travelling from Whitechapel to Paddington. The second is a short 15-minute train journey on the Heathrow Express from London Paddington to Heathrow.

Let’s look at both legs of your journey, to help you plan your trip.

How to get from Whitechapel to Paddington

First, you need to travel from Whitechapel to Paddington, with the quickest and most convenient option being the London Underground.

At Whitechapel, take the Hammersmith and City Line westbound and it runs direct to Paddington in just 11 stops. There’s no need to change Tube trains, and your journey should take around 15 minutes.

Buying Tube tickets to Paddington from Whitechapel

Before you jump on the Tube at Whitechapel, you need a ticket. You have a few options to pay for your Tube ride, including buying a paper ticket from the station, using your Oyster Card or paying contactless on your debit card.

Or you can simply buy your Tube ticket and Heathrow Express ticket online with us, at the same time. That means no time queuing for a ticket at Whitechapel, just one booking and all your tickets in one place. It’s simple, seamless and straightforward.

From Whitechapel tube to the Heathrow Express

The Heathrow Express runs from London Paddington train station. We have two dedicated Heathrow Express platforms at Paddington – platforms six and seven.

Once you arrive at Paddington on the Tube, make your way up to the main station concourse from the Underground station. Simply follow the train station signs and use the escalators or lift. From the station concourse, head through the ticket barriers with your Heathrow Express ticket and make your way to platforms six and seven.

Just remember to check the departure boards at the station to make sure we’re leaving from our usual platforms – it does change sometimes.

Heathrow Express Train

All aboard the Heathrow Express from Whitechapel to Heathrow

Jump on the Heathrow Express for the last leg of your journey, and travel from London Paddington to Heathrow in just 15 minutes. Our trains leave Paddington every 15 minutes, with four trains every hour.

Once on the train, settle in to your comfy seat and stretch out your legs with our ample legroom. You’ll find plenty of space to store your luggage – whether you’re flying with just a carry-on bag or hold luggage – and free WiFi throughout our trains. Business First Class passengers benefit from more legroom, a dedicated table at each seat and free Fast Track Security at Heathrow.

Kids aged 15 and under also travel for free on Heathrow Express.

Journey route

Arriving at Heathrow from Whitechapel

The first stop at Heathrow is Heathrow Central station – just 15 minutes from Paddington. If you’re flying from Terminal 2, 3 or 4, depart the train here. You can walk to check-in at either Terminal 2 or 3 using the inter-terminal walkway in around five to 10 minutes. For flights from Terminal 4, hop on the shuttle bus at Heathrow Central – it only takes a few minutes to get to the terminal.

The second and final Heathrow Express stop is Terminal 5 station – just six minutes later. Leave the train here for all flights from Terminal 5.
