It’s a quick and easy trip from London Victoria station to Heathrow Airport, with just two stages to your journey. The first is travelling from Victoria to London Paddington, and the second is a quick 15-minute train ride on the Heathrow Express to Heathrow Airport. You can also take the Elizabeth Line from Paddington to Heathrow, but it’s a slower journey (27 minutes) compared to the Heathrow Express

How to get from Victoria to Paddington

The first leg of your journey is from Victoria station to London Paddington. The quickest way is on the London Underground. Head down using the stairs, escalators or lifts at Victoria train station to Victoria Underground station below. Hop on the District or Circle Line westbound and it will take you direct to Paddington in just seven stops. There’s no need to change tube lines. You can pay for the tube and your Heathrow Express train ticket online with us before your journey, to save time at the station. While the Elizabeth Line is also available from Paddington to Heathrow in approximately 27 minutes, the Heathrow Express remains the faster, premium option taking just 15 minutes.

If you’ve got a little more time, you can walk between the two stations but it will take you close to an hour. You can also take a cab, which will take around 15 minutes once you flag one down.

Getting to the Heathrow Express platform in Paddington

Once you arrive at London Paddington, make your way to the main concourse. If you’re arriving on the tube, follow the signs up to the train station. When in the main concourse, head through the ticket barriers towards the platforms. Our trains usually run from platforms six and seven.


Make sure you check the boards when you arrive at Paddington, as we occasionally leave from different platforms. It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes it does.

The Heathrow Express is the fastest and smoothest way to get from London Paddington to Heathrow Airport. The journey takes just 15 minutes, and our trains leave Paddington every 15 minutes. With four trains running every hour, your journey to Heathrow Airport will be seamless and easy.


Once you’re on the train, relax and settle into your seat. You’ll find ample legroom and there’s plenty of space to store your all-important luggage. All our trains have Wi-Fi throughout, so you can connect your devices as you travel. You can keep them charged too, with the plug socket at your seat. You’ll find our trains have level access at both Paddington and Heathrow, ensuring they are accessible for wheelchair users. Children aged 15 and under also travel for free on Heathrow Express.

How long does it take to get from Victoria to London Heathrow?

Journeys from London Victoria to Heathrow usually take around 45 minutes to one hour depending on the day, method and time of travel.

  • The Tube from Victoria to Paddington takes approximately 15 minutes

  • The transfer at Paddington to the Heathrow Express takes around 5 minutes

  • The Heathrow Express from Paddington to Heathrow takes 15 minutes

  • Getting to the terminal from the train station takes around 5-10 minutes

By choosing the Heathrow Express from Paddington, you can keep your journey to the airport to around 45 minutes. Heathrow Express trains from Paddington take 15 minutes to reach Heathrow Central station and an extra six minutes to arrive at Heathrow Terminal 5 station.

Heathrow Central serves both Terminal 2 and Terminal 3, while you can get the Elizabeth Line from Heathrow Central to Terminal 4 for free. Passengers flying from Terminal 5 will need to disembark at Terminal 5 station.

Is there a direct train between London Victoria and London Heathrow Airport (LHR)?

There is no direct train from Victoria to Heathrow, but by choosing to travel on the Heathrow Express from London Paddington you can enjoy the fastest route non-stop into the airport from the capital ensuring you arrive at Heathrow in plenty of time for your flight.

How much does it cost to get from London Victoria to Heathrow?

The cost of travelling from Victoria Station to Heathrow will depend on your chosen route and method of transport. If you plan your journey as early as possible, there are also savings to be made.

By opting to travel to Heathrow Airport on the Heathrow Express, you can travel between London Paddington and the airport for just £10. Simply book your ticket at least 30 days in advance to take advantage of our Advanced Discounted Single. Tickets purchased closer to the time will range from £26 for a Single on Standard Class, or £32 for a Single on our PREMIER+. Children aged 15 and under travel free on Heathrow Express.

Tickets for the London Underground from Victoria to Paddington will cost between £3 and £7, depending on whether you travel using an Oyster Card, contactless payment or simply pay cash for your single fare between the two stations.

Arriving at Heathrow Airport

Having boarded your Heathrow Express train at Paddington, you’ll arrive at Heathrow Airport in 15 minutes. The first stop is Heathrow Central, which serves Terminal 2, 3 and 4, then Terminal 5 six minutes later.

If you’re flying from Terminal 2 or 3, leave the Heathrow Express at Heathrow Central. It’s then just a short walk to either terminal using the underground walkway.

Leave the Heathrow Express at Heathrow Central. You can take the Elizabeth Line for free from Heathrow Central to Terminal 4.

Stay on the Heathrow Express for another six minutes into Terminal 5 station. The station has direct access to both departures and arrivals in Terminal 5.

Travelling from Heathrow to Victoria

Once you land at Heathrow, board the Heathrow Express at either Heathrow Central station or Terminal 5 station. The Heathrow Express runs direct to London Paddington in 15 minutes from Heathrow Central and 21 minutes from Terminal 5. Trains run every 15 minutes from the airport.

When you arrive at Paddington, head down to the London Underground. You can then take the Circle or District Line for seven stops to Victoria.
