It couldn’t be simpler to get from London King’s Cross to London Heathrow. There are just two stages to your journey. The first is travelling from King’s Cross to London Paddington. Then it’s a quick 15-minute train ride on the Heathrow Express to the airport.

How to get from King’s Cross to Paddington

The first stage of your journey sees you travel from King’s Cross to London Paddington, and you have a few options depending on time. You can hop in a cab from King’s Cross, with the journey to Paddington taking around 10 minutes straight down Euston Road. If you have time to walk, the trip should take you around 40 minutes, or you can take the bus – look out for the 205 to Paddington.


The simplest and one of the quickest routes to take is on the London Underground. Both King’s Cross and Paddington are on the Circle Line and Hammersmith and City Line. It’s just five stops on the tube between the two stations.


It’s worth noting that King’s Cross train station and St. Pancras train station are right next door to each other, and you can walk in between them in minutes. They even share a tube station. When you take the tube from King’s Cross to Paddington, you’ll actually use King’s Cross St. Pancras London Underground station.

How to get to the Heathrow Express in Paddington

Having arrived at London Paddington, you’ll need to make your way to the main station concourse to take your Heathrow Express train. Our trains usually run from platforms six and seven, so head through the ticket barriers with your Heathrow Express ticket – either your physical ticket or on your smartphone if you’re using our Heathrow Express app.


Remember to always check the boards at the station in case we’re running from a different platform on the day.

We run a direct service to London Heathrow, with no stops along the way. The journey takes just 15 minutes.

How long does it take to get from London Kings Cross to Heathrow?

Journey times between Kings Cross and London Heathrow will take between 45 minutes and one hour.

When choosing to take the Heathrow Express from London Paddington to Heathrow, your journey time will be 45 minutes. Heathrow Express trains take just 15 minutes to reach Heathrow Central and an additional six minutes into Heathrow Terminal 5 station.

Passengers flying from either terminal 2 or 3 at Heathrow will leave the Heathrow Express service at Heathrow Central, while Terminal 5 station serves flights leaving from Terminal 5. If you're flying from Terminal 4 you can jump on a quick connecting shuttle bus from Heathrow Central.

Arriving by train into Heathrow

The journey from London Paddington to Heathrow Airport takes just 15 minutes on the Heathrow Express. You’ll first arrive at Heathrow Central station, which is in between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 – it’s just a short walk to either terminal. If your flight is leaving from Terminal 4, it’s a quick shuttle bus ride from Heathrow Central to the terminal. For flights from Terminal 5, stay on the Heathrow Express for an extra six minutes into Terminal 5 station.
